Keira Knightley talks to Elle in their March issue about criticism of her acting skills, the importance of honesty in her life, and her upcoming roles.

On her character in The Misanthrope:

“Jennifer’s kind of a crazy mix of being a complete bitch—confident and terrifying—yet she’s incredibly young and is probably being exploited way more than she actually realizes.”

On criticism of her acting skills:

“Oh, they still say that! Every time I do an interview with the English press, one of their questions is, ‘How do you feel knowing that everyone thinks you’re a s*** actress?’”

On surrounding herself with people who tell her the truth:

“You have to be selective about the people whose advice and opinions you take. I know [my parents] would never tell me I was s*** because they were trying to hurt me. It would always come from a very sincere place.”

On her other upcoming film “Last Night”:

“When we were making it, the arguments on set were just amazing about whether mental infidelity is better or worse than physical infidelity. There was a huge gender divide on the question. Every single woman said that mental infidelity is 10 times worse than [an emotionless assignation]. And most men I spoke with said that it’s the physical act that would be the ultimate betrayal.”

Keira Knightley Wanted a Cookbook From Santa

Keira Knightley, apparently, isn’t nearly as talented in the kitchen as she is on the screen or stage. She has said that her culinary skills are greatly lacking.

“I am not the best cook in the world. I have tried, but I really am hopeless. I can cook maybe one dish. But even then, if you ate it, you’d probably end up with food poisoning,” she quips.

“Recently, a friend explained how to make an eggplant bake. I brought it out of the oven in this beautiful bowl and dropped it. It smashed all over the kitchen and I burst into tears. That I why I asked Santa for some easy-to-understand cook books,” she sighs.

I hope Santa delivered the goods. For her and Rupert’s sake!

Keira Knightley: One of the reasons I wanted to do it was that the language was so delicious. We’re trying to make sure that we absolutely have the sense, then use the rhyme as this wonderful tool you can bring out when you want to.

Recent Keira Knightley and Rupert Friend Rumors

This is unfortunate, if true.  Keira Knightley is rumored to be having trouble with her relationship of 4 years to Rupert Friend.

When talking recently about the similarities between her character in The Misanthrope, Keira recently said, “Do I recognize being an extremely well-known young actress? Yes. And she’s in the middle of a world full of people who are quite a bit older than her. She’s having a problem with her boyfriend. No comment.”

Keira is currently starring in the West End show “The Misanthrope” and she says there are similarities in her character and her real life relationship. Keira met Rupert, who starred in the movie “The Boy In The striped Pyjamas”, in 2005 on the set of “Pride and Prejudice” and they have been dating ever since.

Keira Knightley Wouldn’t Mind a Little R & R!

Keira Knightley has been working for five solid years and thinks it would be lovely to have a bit of a rest!

In Keira Knightley’s words: “Not necessarily that I’m exhausted. But I think that you get to a point where you’re just going to end up regurgitating stuff just because you’re tired and you’re not actually looking around you. It’s important to take a step back.”

Keira’s film career isn’t the only thing that’s going strong. Her relationship with beautiful actor Rupert Friend is also steady and solid.
