Rupert Friend recently told the media something cool: He and Keira Knightley use web cameras to stay in contact. According to Rupert: "We use Skype... old school! "I use the computer to keep in touch with everybody. I don't really know anything about computers but I think email and things like that are pretty great inventions." |

| Ã Rupert Friend's Latest Movie Role / Date: 18 May 2009 / Author: Joi |

Keira's boyfriend, Rupert Friend, literally fought to win his latest movie role - a boxer in "The Kid." Rupert decided to take boxing lessons to play British author Kevin Lewis. The movie, directed by Nick Moran, is the true story of how Lewis got embroiled with London criminals and became a boxer before transforming into a best-selling writer. Rupert, 27, said: "I wanted to get boxing into my bones. I needed to do that to do Kevin justice. I needed to know what it felt like to think of the boxing ring as home, as opposed to the world outside it. "It's like chess. It's not about annihilating your opponent, it's about outwitting him." Rupert, who starred in The Young Victoria, admitted it was tough going because he is not exactly a natural athlete. He said: "Indeed, I'd barely even done any PT at school. Sport is not my thing." The film, released later this year, is based on Lewis' autobiography about his horrendous South London childhood in which he was abused by his parents. |
| Ã Keira filming in Norfolk / Date: 8 May 2009 / Author: Joi |

Keira Knightley was at a remote farmland location near Docking yesterday to film scenes for Never Let Me Go. The crew were setting up an important scene by a very special tree - a tree which could become as recognizable as the actors. Location manager Josh Yudkin said: “Wait until you see the film - this is going to be a famous tree. Never Let Me Go is an adaptation of Kazuo Ishiguro's novel, with Keira Knightley starring alongside Carey Mulligan and Andrew Garfield. The three characters grow up together in an isolated boarding school, only to discover they have been bred as clones to be used for organ donation. I cannot wait! |

| Ã Keira Knightley's Ad Considered TOO Violent / Date: 28 Apr 2009 / Author: Joi |
|
Keira Knightley's anti-domestic violence ad has been deemed too violent for the British viewers. The public service announcement (PSA) for the Women's Aid charity has been banned for broadcast in the U.K. The ad features Keira returning home from a long shooting day at work when her boyfriend confronts her for having an affair with a co-star. He then brutally attacked her, kicking her repeatedly even after she had slumped to the floor in helpless defeat. "The Cut," directed by "Atonement" helmer Joe Wright, was shown in British cinemas this month, but won't likely end up on the small screen unless the final vicious scenes are edited. Advertising overseer Clearcast wants several scenes cut from the ad, claiming the violence in the final scenes is too shocking for TV viewers. Sandra Horely, chief executive of charity Refuge, which assists women and children to escape domestic violence, said that Clearcast's decision is "pathetic." She told NZ Herald, "It seems pathetic. It is really important to raise awareness about domestic violence, and TV gets into people's homes." |
| Ã Keira Knightley Filming Never Let Me Go / Date: 25 Apr 2009 / Author: Joi |
![]() Keira Knightley is in Somerset filming "Never Let Me Go." The movie is a sci-fi film, which was adapted from Kazuo Ishiguro's best-selling novel. Keira plays a 24-year-old named Kathy H, a woman who recounts the story of her childhood at boarding school and her unusual life. The tale is set in a Britain where humans are cloned to provide donor organs for transplants. The movie also stars Charlotte Rampling and Sally Hawkins. Sounds fascinating and the best news is she isn't in a wig and hooped skirt. Yes! A modern Keira Knightley... Life is good! For more pictures of Keira on set, click HERE! |
| Ã English Talent All Over the Place! / Date: 23 Apr 2009 / Author: Joi |

A recent chart, published on St George's Day, shows that 63 per cent of the "hottest 100 movies" star English actors. They may not be in the #1 lead role each time, but make no mistake about it - their presence is felt. Lovefilm.com, the UK's largest online DVD and games rental service, analyzed its top 100 rental films, and found English actors Clive Owen and Daniel Craig each starred in four of the top 100 films. Simon Pegg, Ian McKellen, Sean Bean and Jude Law all starred in three of the nation's favourites. English actresses Thandie Newton, Kate Winslet, Keira Knightley and Helena Bonham Carter have three starring roles each in the top 100 movies, while Judi Dench and Tilda Swinton take roles in two each. London was found to be home to the majority of English talent – including Ray Winstone, Michael Caine, Hugh Grant and Sacha Baron Cohen, plus Keira Knightley, Emily Blunt, Helen Mirren and Sophie Okonedo. Speaking of Helen Mirren, have you seen State of Play starring her loveliness, Rachel McAdams, Russel Crowe, and Ben Afleck? It's awesome - I loved it. Lovefilm's Top 25 Rentals are (with films featuring English leads in brackets): 1. The Last King Of Scotland (Simon McBurney) 2. Little Miss Sunshine 3. Atonement (Keira Knightley, Brenda Blethyn) 4. Casino Royale (2006) (Daniel Craig, Judi Dench) 5. Déjà Vu 6. The Pursuit Of Happyness (Thandie Newton) 7. The Departed (Ray Winstone) 8. Hot Fuzz (Simon Pegg, Nick Frost) 9. Blood Diamond 10. American Gangster (Chiwetel Ejiofor) 11. Children Of Men (Clive Owen) 12. Crash [2005] (Thandie Newton) 13. The Bourne Ultimatum (Paddy Considine, Albert Finney)) 14.
