How maddening that we have to wait until January 2011 to see the film adaptation of author Kazuo Ishiguro’s Never Let Me Go? The novel has won an Aurthur C. Clark award, a National Book Critics Circle Award, and Time magazine’s Best Novel of 2005. The movie stars three of the hottest stars of the day: Keira Knightley, Andrew Garfield, and Carey Mulligan.
Fortunately, to hold us over, we have this clip from Never Let Me Go. The story, as you know, follows three classmates at a boarding school for unique individuals.
My fingers are crossed, hoping that this movie will get wide distribution in the states. Keira Knightley fans here in the U.S.A. have been deprived of one of our favorite actresses. I can’t remember the last movie she was in that had nation-wide distribution. Was it Atonement?
I would love nothing more than to see Keira Knightley appear in more mainstream movies. When she starred in the Pirate movies, Pride & Prejudice, and Atonement, she was as popular (all over the world) as any actress. However, some of the artsy movies with limited-release has caused a lot of her rabid fans to “turn to” other actresses and support their careers.
In a way, who can totally blame them, at least they get to see their favorite actresses on the big screen, on award shows, in the media, etc.
My fingers are crossed that the upcoming Keira Knightley movies will re-familiarize Americans, and everyone all over the world, with this exceptional and beautiful actress. She’s one of a kind and her fans would love nothing more than to see more of her!
Not only are Rupert Friend and Keira Knightley planning a wine-tasting trip to the Champagne-Ardenne region of France, reports say that the adorable couple has bought a secluded estate in Provence.
Keira, 25, and Rupert, 28, who have been dating since 2005, will count Johnny Depp and his wife Vanessa Paradis among their neighbors.
“The house is incredibly private, small and cozy and they intend to keep it that way,” said a source.
“Keira started moving in right after she completed her purchase earlier this summer and she and Rupert have already entertained some of their friends. She is thrilled with the change of scenery and loves the feeling that she’ll always have this place to retreat to when she needs to recharge her batteries.”
“Keira is getting tired of life in London, particularly the pollution and congestion, and, although it’s essential that she and Rupert both live in London for their acting work, Keira is insisting on spending as much time as possible in France. She says it is more relaxing than she’d ever imagined.”
Keira will be heading out on a worldwide tour to promote her new film Never Let Me Go later this year.
Young British stars Keira Knightley, Carey Mulligan and Andrew Garfield are to open the 54th BFI London Film Festival with their highly-anticipated film Never Let Me Go.
The stars will attend the European premiere of the drama, which will mark the opening gala of the London’s 2010 film festival on October 13.
Directed by One Hour Photo’s Mark Romanek the film is based on the highly acclaimed, best-selling novel by Kazuo Ishiguro and adapted for the screen by British author and screenwriter Alex Garland.
Oscar nominees Keira Knightley, Carey Mulligan and Andrew Garfield (who recently won the coveted role as the new Spider-Man) star as friends who grew up together at in a lovely English boarding school.
While at school the trio discover a dark secret about their future, and are then forced to come to grips with their sheltered past as adults in the real world, while confronting the deep feelings of love, jealousy and betrayal that threaten to pull them apart.
Sandra Hebron, the Festival’s Artistic Director said: “It is a great pleasure to be able to open the festival with a film as accomplished and imaginative as Never Let Me Go. It combines impeccable filmmaking, outstanding performances and a deeply moving story, and I couldn’t wish for a stronger or more appropriate opening night.”
Director Romanek said: “I think I can speak for the entire cast and crew when I say that we are deeply honoured and excited to have been selected to open this year’s festival.
“For me personally, it seems the perfect way to celebrate the conclusion of an incredible filmmaking experience in the UK.”
Never Let Me Go is due to be released in the UK on January 14 2011.
The 54th BFI London Film Festival runs from October 13-28.

I think she’d be wonderful in the type of role that Cameron Diaz played in Knight & Day or like Angelina Jolie played in Mr. and Mrs. Smith.
